We all play a key role in driving and incentivising the use of evidence in government.
This group provides a space to link together people who use and generate evidence from across the VPS. It is a place to ask questions, share experiences, and find up-to-date resources to help you make the most of evidence in your work. It also provides a central platform for communication of latest developments and information about evidence reform in the VPS.
Evidence is at the core of every decision government makes. Finding ways to better supply, demand and use evidence is a crucial part of improving those decisions and delivering better services, policies and outcomes for Victorians. We consider evidence to be data, facts and information that are used to inform government’s decisions. This can include:
- findings from research
- evaluations of programs and services
- professional expertise
- the experiences of people who use government services.
Evidence is closely linked to outcomes: outcomes articulate the impact we want to have, and evidence tells us if we're succeeding. As such, we work closely with the outcomes team.
